Immediate Need Services

Woodlawn advisors are available to speak with you at any time. An after-hours emergency number can be obtained by calling our our main telephone number, 419-472-2186.

There are four primary cemetery issues at the time of immediate need:

1. Obtain Burial Space. At Historic Woodlawn Cemetery, you have many options to celebrate the unique life of your loved one. All are described in greater detail in the Products and Services area of our website. Briefly, your choices include -

  • Mausoleum (entombment) - There are two ways your family can join the great mausoleum tradition at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.

The first is by purchasing space in our beautiful new Lakeside Mausoleum. Situated on a picturesque knoll overlooking the east lake, Woodlawn's first public mausoleum is faced with Italian marble and granite giving it the look and feel of the historic family mausoleums at the cemetery. Entombment in Lakeside Mausoleum is remarkably affordable - typically comparable to or lower in price than conventional ground burial.

The other option is to commission your own private, family mausoleum. This is truly the ultimate in prestigious memorialization - the choice of kings and presidents as well as many of Toledo's prominent families whose private mausoleums are part of the architectural landscape at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.

  • In-ground (interment) - Woodlawn Cemetery offers you the choice of traditional graves or lawn crypts, an option unique to Woodlawn in this area. Lawn crypts offer many of the benefits of mausoleum entombment and are frequently referred to by engineers as "in-ground mausoleums." Either choice allows handsome memorialization with personalized monuments available from Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.

  • Cremation - Cremation provides the dignity of a traditional service at a much more affordable cost. Disposition options for cremains are extensive at Historic Woodlawn. You can plan a traditional in-ground interment with a loved one, a burial in our urn garden space, scattering of ashes over Woodlawn Lake, aboveground inurnment in the Woodlawn Columbarium or inurnment in a niche within our beautiful Lakeside Mausoleum. Cremains can also be placed in a "Back to Nature" boulder. A very special area of Historic Woodlawn Cemetery is reserved for infants.

2. Professional Fees for opening and closing the chosen burial space

3. Purchase of the burial vault if necessary

4. Memorialization by monument or marker

Burial space, vault and professional fees must be paid in full before any cemetery service may occur.

24-hour notice is required for all services at Woodlawn. Any service not finalized by 11 am one day prior to interment, will be subject to a late fee. Notice by 11 am on Saturday is required for Sunday or Monday services.
